Introduction to Sexuality & Learning Disability Training Course

Health & Social Care Training Courses

This workshop aims to introduce workers to the issues and current debates about sexuality and working with people with learning disability.

In a relaxed and informal atmosphere, this aim will be achieved by:

  • Clarification and understanding of the differences between sex and sexuality
  • Sexuality and identity and individuality
  • Sex and the law
  • The protection of vulnerable adults who are involved in sexual relationships

By the end of this session, workers will have gained an insight into some of the practice issues presented by the promotion of sexuality for people with learning disabilities. They will have started to examine aspects of their own value base and will have considered ways in which their need to counter oppressive and prejudicial behaviour.
