Managing Conflict in Care Settings Training Course

Health & Social Care Training Courses

AIMS:
This one day programme aims to help workers explore strategies for managing conflict within the workplace. It examines individual conflict management styles in order to help delegates identify the areas in their own approach which work and which aspects need to be adapted. Strategies are also identified.

OBJECTIVES:
This will be achieved by:

  • Identifying the sources of conflict in care settings.
  • Examination of theoretical explanations of conflict and individual styles of approaching conflict situations.
  • Consideration of the positives and negatives of each approach and identification of when each approach is at its most effective.
  • Reflective work examining interpersonal communication, assertiveness, passivity and aggression.
  • Exploring the relationship between anger and conflict.
  • Examining how to manage the aftermath of conflict.

OUTCOMES:
By the end of the session, workers will have had the opportunity to examine their own approaches to managing conflict and will have been able to identify strategies to enable them to achieve more positive outcomes.
