Person Centred Approaches Training Course

Health & Social Care Training Courses

AIMS:
This workshop aims to explore the components of competent practice which underpin person centred approaches to delivering services for people with learning disabilities.

OBJECTIVES:
This will be achieved via a variety of teaching methods including lecture, discussion and group work. The session will examine:

  • The professional attitude base necessary for the promotion of person centred approaches - inclusion, positive perspectives, respect.
  • The skills to support person centred approaches - listening, understanding another's experiences, questioning, relating.
  • Knowledge about person centred approaches - your role, the person and the service.
  • Facilitating through practice - structural and organisational barriers and obstacles and ways of overcoming them.

OUTCOMES:
By the end of the session, delegates will have explored their own professional attitudes, skill and knowledge base which they apply to the promotion of person centred service delivery.
